Commercial Kitchen Rack Ovens

The CEESM Commercial Kitchens Initiative was launched in 2005 to support clear and credible marketplace definitions of highly efficient energy and water performance in cooking, refrigeration, and sanitation equipment. Through this Initiative, CEE maintains specifications for nine different commercial kitchen equipment categories.

CEE withdrew its gas rack oven specification as of October 18, 2017. There are two reasons for withdrawing the specification. First, CEE and US EPA ENERGY STAR® use different metrics for idle energy rate, which has the potential to cause market confusion. Secondly, we see little opportunity for a CEE specification to differentiate highly efficient rack ovens in a cost-effective manner beyond the ENERGY STAR performance criteria. Accordingly, CEE is supporting ENERGY STAR while continuing to monitor the market for new opportunities to advance highly efficient commercial rack ovens.

CEE members are encouraged to reference the ENERGY STAR commercial oven specification and qualifying products list, which includes rack ovens. Interested stakeholders can use this list to continue to identify highly efficient equipment.
