Monica Nevius Promoted

CEE Evaluation, Research and Behavior team lead, Monica Nevius, was recently promoted to Principal Program Manager for the group. “Given Monica’s demonstrated history of performance and the growing responsibility and importance of the Evaluation, Research, and Behavior function at CEE, we are pleased to promote Monica to the position of Principal Program Manager,” said Deputy Director, Ed Wisniewski.

Monica came to CEE after completing her PhD in sociology from the University of Wisconsin. As a result of her extensive studies of energy conservation attitudes and behavior in Wisconsin households while a graduate student, she was among the first to identify issues with the use of programmable thermostats in comparison to estimated savings.

Monica NeviusNevius, who established the CEE Evaluation and Research function and the Evaluation Committee when she joined CEE more than eight years ago, is an important part of the CEE offering to members. She is a key contributor to several legacy endeavors including the Market Assessment and Program Evaluation Clearinghouse (a Web library of evaluation reports and resources), the formation of the Behavior Committee, the annual Energy Efficiency Program Industry Report, and the establishment of a web-based evaluation workshop geared toward regulators.

Monica's current responsibilities involve supporting members' market research and evaluation work by organizing opportunities for collaborative or jointly sponsored research efforts, such as the annual ENERGY STAR® survey and the annual Energy Efficiency Program Industry Report, pursuing opportunities to obtain market penetration data for member use, and supporting the advancement of evaluation to better inform policy decisions through a variety of means. She also leads the CEE Evaluation Committee and represents CEE at evaluation and behavior related conferences and meetings.

In her new capacity, Monica will continue to supervise the Evaluation, Research, and Behavior staff while assuming greater strategic responsibility for managing CEE behavior work, along with her previous scope in evaluation and research. Monica notes that her contributions and accomplishments could not have been achieved without the support of her fellow Evaluation, Research, and Behavior team members, Johanna Krouk and Kira Ashby.
