CEESM is happy to announce a new, improved CEE-AHRI HVAC directory, http://www.ceedirectory.org/. Since 2004, the CEE-AHRI directory of energy efficient central air conditioner and air source heat pumps has served as a resource for consumers, contractors, and program administrators. In response to CEE member requests, there are numerous improvements over the previous version, including:
- Quality installation content tailored to contractors and consumers
- Enhanced security features to ensure integrity of the certified ratings
- Links to all CEE member Web sites offering incentives for this equipment
|
|
The aim of these improvements is to offer more complete and credible information in a more usable fashion. Home energy rater Dan Dukes uses the directory on a daily basis. He writes, “Just a quick note to say that the CEE Directory online is an amazing tool, obviously a mind-bending amount of work has gone into it.” The Directory makes it easier for users such as Dan to sort through all the data available for these systems. |

Improvements to the Directory come just in time, before the DOE makes available $300 million for ENERGY STAR appliance rebates this fall. DOE has recommended“that states and territories focus their program efforts on heating and cooling equipment” along with appliances and water heaters, since those products offer the greatest energy savings potential. The Consortium for Energy Efficiency and the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute have partnered to make it simple for consumers to find efficient central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps.
The CEE-AHRI HVAC directory lists thousands of efficient central air conditioners and heat pumps, as well as variable speed mini-split and multi-split systems produced by many leading manufacturers. Products listed in this directory provide consumers with performance assurance because their energy efficiency ratings have been independently tested and certified by AHRI. From the directory, equipment installers and consumers can print an AHRI Certificate of Product Ratings, which are often required by rebate programs to verify equipment energy efficiency ratings. From the directory, consumers can also find links to existing incentive programs in the United States and Canada and learn about the important role a quality installation and proper maintenance plays in optimizing and maintaining the system's energy efficiency.
