Thank you to the directors who have given so much of their time and effort to CEE governance over the past year! While our committee members provide the crucial direction for specific initiatives, Board insights guide CEE in the larger sphere. Our Board represents large programs and small, and members come from all regions of the United States and Canada. Broad regional representation insures that the various concerns and conditions faced across both countries are included in every decision. Some of our members are large utilities subject to shareholders, while others are nonprofits closely tied to state governments. In addition we include a few advocacy organizations. Together, the broad range of viewpoints on our Board leads to fully vetted decisions and directions that address the concerns of all our members.

Recent board elections saw the addition of three new directors: Claire Fulenwider, executive director of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance in Portland, Oregon; Steve Hobson, director, Power Smart, BC Hydro, British Columbia; and Val R. Jensen, vice president of Marketing and Environmental Programs, Commonwealth Edison of Northern Illinois.
The following Board members stepped down: Mark Saucier (Hydro Québec), Bruce Johnson (National Grid), and Susan Hermenet (Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance). Many thanks to them for their years of service and contributions to CEE. Kathleen Hogan will continue as special advisor from EPA; John Cockburn continues as special advisor from Natural Resources Canada; and confirmation is still being awaited of an advisor from the U.S. Department of Energy.
We’d also like to recognize the following members for volunteering to provide the Board with input over the coming year:
- Rebecca Craft, Con Edison
- Dan Dent, Questar Gas
- Fred Gordon, Energy Trust of Oregon
- Kathy Kuntz, Wisconsin Focus on Energy
- Craig Smith, Snohomish
- Julia McNally, Ontario Power Authority
We look forward to engaging in many fruitful discussions!
